If speech or swallowing difficulties are keeping you from living your best life, help is nearby. The experts at Carson Valley Health (CVH) offer inpatient and outpatient speech therapy services for adults and children.
Here are some of the reasons CVH is an excellent choice if you or a loved one needs speech therapy:
Our highly qualified speech-language pathologists. Our team has years of experience evaluating and treating a variety of speech and swallowing issues.
The individualized attention you’ll receive. Our speech-language pathologists take the time to get to know you and your individual needs and goals, in order to tailor therapy to be exactly what is best for you. All appointments are one on one, and most last a full hour.
We involve your loved ones in your therapy. We understand that the challenges that come with speech, swallowing, and cognitive changes can impact the whole family and that loved ones can be a great source of support. That’s why we also provide family training in ways to support your therapy goals and independence at home and in the community.
Our speech-language therapy services. We provide speech-language therapies at our modern Rehabilitation Services Department in Gardnerville.
SLP areas of expertise include:
Aphasia care. We step in to help when stroke, brain injuries or other conditions make it difficult for people to use or understand language.
Aural rehabilitation. This service helps reduce the impact of hearing loss.
Communication devices. We’re experts in helping our patients use devices, tools, and alternative methods to communicate other than talking.
Gender-affirming voice therapy. Our team has expertise in helping people develop a voice that aligns with their identity.
Pediatric speech therapy. We treat a wide range of issues in children, including language delays and problems pronouncing words. We also help address communication challenges in children who have autism spectrum disorder.
Parkinson’s disease voice training. We use the Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT) LOUD to help people with Parkinson’s regain the power to talk and be understood.
Stuttering treatment. We treat stuttering and other fluency disorders in both children and adults.
Swallowing disorders evaluation and treatment. Our diagnostic services include swallowing tests, such as FEES (flexible endoscopic evaluation of swallow). Once we’ve diagnosed the cause of the problem, we can offer specialized treatments to address it and help you swallow safely again.
To schedule an appointment with a speech-language pathologist at CVH ask your physician for a referral.
Our licensed, highly qualified speech-language pathologists are ready to meet your rehabilitation needs. Outpatient Rehabilitation and Outpatient Therapy Center Department hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Contact us at 775.782.1519.
