
Occupational therapy evaluates and treats individuals whose ability to function independently is impaired or threatened by disease or injury. The main focus of occupational therapy is to regain the individual's highest functional level of independence.

Patients who benefit include those who need help with things such as putting on shoes and socks, relearning how to eat after a stroke, or improving strength after an injury accident. Your occupational therapist will perform an evaluation to test your joint motion, muscle strength, and motor coordination. By making this assessment, your therapist can gauge how these factors have impaired your ability to perform your daily living activities such as dressing, bathing, grooming, toileting, and eating.
