We are currently accepting registrations for the following list of classes. You may register and pick up books by contacting Lisa Tremaine, ltremaine@cvmchospital.org, 775.782.1506. Students must be registered on or before the registration deadline for each class. Please give 48-hours notice if possible when cancelling attendance for a class.
This course teaches providers to respond to a cardiovascular emergency. It is intended for physicians, nurses, EMT's, paramedics, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals. ACLS provides the knowledge and skills needed to evaluate and manage the first 10 minutes of an adult cardiac arrest. Pre-requisites include current BLS certification and a completed mandatory pre-course exam. The pretest can be accessed by going to https://elearning.heart.org and completing thePrecourse Self-Assessment. You must pass the pre-test with a 70% or better to be allowed access into the class. If you are unable to print your pre-test, please take a picture of it to include your name, date of the course, score and name of course; email it to Nichole Artam at nartam@carsonvalleyhealth.org

This course is designed to provide healthcare professionals the ability to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR, the Heimlich maneuver, and use an AED. The course includes adult, child, and infant rescue skills in both the out-of-hospital and in-hospital settings.

This course is designed to aid the pediatric healthcare provider in developing the knowledge and skills necessary to efficiently and effectively manage critically ill infants and children, resulting in improved outcomes. This course is intended for pediatricians, emergency physicians, family physicians, physician assistants, nurses, nurse practitioners, paramedics, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare providers who initiate and direct advanced life support in pediatric emergencies. Pre-requisites include current BLS certification and a completed mandatory pre-course exam. This course focuses on prevention, and specifically, the assessment, recognition and stabilization of pediatric victims at risk of severe cardiopulmonary distress. It addresses a gap in the number of healthcare providers who see pediatric patients, and do not require the advanced skills of PALS.

This course provides guidelines for the assessment and stabilization of sick infants in the post-resuscitation/pre- transport stabilization period. It is recommended for licensed healthcare providers in the Emergency Department setting.
