Imaging tests at CVH

Most of our imaging services are available at our Imaging Department at the hospital campus in south Gardnerville. In addition, we currently offer a few imaging services at two nearby primary clinics.

We offer a wide range of medical imaging, including:

CT scans. CT uses computers and X-rays to create cross-sectional images.

DEXA (bone-density scans). Bone-density tests screen for osteoporosis. Available at Primary Care Virginia Ranch Rd.

Echocardiography. This heart test uses soundwaves to create images of the heart.

MRI (magnetic resonance imaging). MRI uses a magnetic field and radio waves to create highly detailed images.

Nuclear medicine. Nuclear medicine tests use a radioactive tracer to diagnose diseases.

Ultrasound. These tests use soundwaves to create images of organs and blood vessels.

X-rays. These are used to look at bones, joints, the chest and more. X-rays are also available at Ironwood Urgent Care.

Interventional radiology. Our specialists perform image-guided procedures, including biopsies and treatments.

ABI (ankle brachial index). This test uses ultrasound to measure blood flow for of the extremities - a tool to help detect peripheral artery disease.

Get your 3D mammogram at CVH

When it’s time for your breast cancer screening, CVH offers you the choice of standard 2D mammograms and the most sophisticated 3D mammography equipment in the industry.

3D mammograms provide a higher-quality series of images, which may improve early detection of breast cancer, especially for women with dense breast tissue. The technology provides more data than 2D which may reduce the chances of being called back for additional screening images.

Our advanced 3D mammogram equipment includes patient-friendly features, like enhanced comforts and adjustable mood lighting to help you relax.

At CVH, you can expect to receive a high-quality mammogram in a friendly, welcoming environment. Our mammography staff and our mammography unit are accredited by the American College of Radiology.
