New equipment in Carson Valley Health’s outpatient physical therapy department is making healing easier for therapy patients. With the help of funds raised through the CVH Hospital Foundation, the department upgraded to electric parallel bars which will improve both safety and versatility.
“We are treating a wide variety of orthopedic and neurological patients,” says physical therapist Rene Hoogendijk. “Many of these patients feel much more comfortable in parallel bars, taking their first steps.” The new Metron® Elite electric parallel bars expand the range of patients that can utilize the bars as part of their recovery. It also allows each therapist to focus more on the effectiveness of the exercises and less on the concern for falls. The system is easily adjustable, so therapists can expose patients to a greater variety of challenging exercises.
Faster healing, a safer care environment, and life-saving technology are at the heart of the fundraising efforts of the CVH Foundation. “We have a beautiful community, a beautiful facility, and we believe our residents should be able to access quality healthcare without having to leave town,” says CVH Foundation Board President, Linda Birdwell. “Each contribution to our organization helps CVH’s ability to continue to improve and save lives.”
The Foundation’s next fundraising event, the Fall Classic Golf Tournament, is scheduled for Sept. 16 at Genoa Lakes Golf Club. For more information on sponsorships or to register to golf, visit cvmchospital.org/golf or call Foundation Director Shannon Albert at 775.782.1512.
